Microbial pathogenesis and evolution

Mission

This node aims to advance understanding of microbial pathogenic mechanisms and evolutionary dynamics, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the region. It serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, joint projects, and grant applications within the Infect@LU network. It is hosted at Lund University, but we welcome interested researchers from other organizations such as health care, diagnostics, and health agencies.

Research focus

  • Mechanisms of microbial pathogenesis in clinical and experimental contexts
  • Evolutionary processes shaping host-pathogen interactions
  • Viral pathogenesis and evolution
  • Model systems for studying infection (in vitro and in vivo)
  • Exploration of new types of treatment for infectious diseases

Members

Currently researchers from the Departments of Clinical Sciences, Translational Medicine, Experimental Medical Science, and Biology, including professors, post-docs, PhD students, and assistants.

We are open for additional members to join!

Goals

  • Build a strong interdisciplinary platform for microbial pathogenesis and evolution research in our area
  • Promote collaborative projects and joint grant applications within the node and within the network
  • Organize thematic meetings and workshops that are of interest for our members
